As we welcome November, we honor Native American Heritage Month, also called American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, a time dedicated to the history, cultures and invaluable contributions of Native American communities. Since its establishment in 1990, this month-long observance encourages reflection, education and a deeper appreciation for the indigenous peoples who have profoundly influenced our nation’s history and culture. At LFCC, our members honor Native American history by carving their likeness in native wood species such as Butternut and Cottonwood.
