Our Story

The history of our club dates back over 45 years. The first carving club in Tennessee at the time, it was started in the late 1980s by Jim Couch and Wendell Jones was the first president. The original five club members used to meet in the basement of a bank until Vic Hood's studio in Leipers Fork became the permanent meeting place for the club and it still is, to this day. The studio itself has even a longer history, dating back to the 1800s. It has been a barbershop, a general store and the first post office of the area.

Today, the club boasts over 80 members of a multitude of ages and backgrounds. We aim to spread awareness and appreciation for the art of wood carving and highlight the work of amazing carvers, past and present so that their art lives on and inspires the younger generation of wood carvers.
